Letter from the CEO

Standing in the far corner of my corner office, I gaze across darkened and blustery skies, through thick tempered glass, rimmed as if by stalwart empennage, a shallow and fleeting monument to the great imagination and hubris of men who once thought better of themselves. I find myself transfixed while childhood memories swirl around me, like wisps of heavy fog brushing my cheeks — humiliating admonishments and agonizing torments, which were deftly administered by the inaptly named Sisters of Mercy, somehow coming back to haunt me as I stand in this nadir of my apex.

But I must look forward, toward inexorable destiny, firmly entrenched in piercing focus and simple-minded determination, leading my ponderous draught team as we strain against our yokes to break the hard yet fertile soil, with vast hairy noses twitching to behold the earthy scent of fresh innovation. From high above, Productivity and Profitability smile upon us, with golden locks flowing in heavenly light, the twin progeny of Success herself, now posed as an ancient goddess beaming in approval.

My thoughts return to this moment, as I consider the wonderful path that opens wide before us, crossing the beautiful vista, now burgeoning with great possibilities and amazing potential for the Flignitz Corporation in the next quarter.

As I look out the window, I see not only ducks swimming slowly across a tranquil pond, nestled among the gentle grassy berms that meander through the central quadrangle, near the middle of the sprawling campus of our corporate headquarters, but as I look toward the horizon, which I can’t actually see because it is obscured by buildings, some of which belong to our competitors, and rays of morning sunlight glimmer from mirrored windows on the towers of Company X, Y and Z’s headquarters, practically searing my retinas when I gaze to the southwest at any time from 7:30 to 10:30 AM, depending on the season, and depending also on the weather, I suppose, which seems to be mostly clear these days.

However, when I look into the clear blue skies well above the western horizon (sometime after 10:30 AM), I also see limitless possibilities and a future that is ever-expanding and ever-brighter for the Flignitz Corporation.

As it unfolds and I look forward to another successful and profitable quarter, I am eager and full of excitement, bustling with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and commitment, as I know deep in my heart-of-hearts that I am not alone on this onerous and cumbersome journey. I am not the sole bearer of burden, as I am filled with pride and confidence that I have the full support and certain devotion of my beautiful team, all the employees of Flignitz Corporation, wherever they may be around the globe, whom I cherish almost as children.

With sleeves rolled up, faces squinting in determined grimace, toiling and sweating profusely, standing tall beside each other in fragrant unity, we savor every day as we conflate our purpose and self-determination only to pursue our greatest and most noble entrepreneurial quest, with unwavering tenacity and a formidable spirit drenched in the sweet perfume of innovation.
